Yoshukai Karate International - Tai Kai 2013


Yoshukai Karate International would like to thank everyone who
supported this year’s Tai Kai (summer camp) either in person or
in sprit. The camp was a great success thanks to all of you.

Yoshukai Karate International is proud to announce the promotion of Michael H. McClernan, Kyoshi to the rank of Hachi Dan (8th Dan).

McClernan Sensei was promoted on Friday evening, July 19th, 2013 during a presentation ceremony held at the 2013 Tai Kai. The event was sanctified by a joint proclamation of the Yoshukai Karate International Testing Board recognizing McClernan Sensei for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Yoshukai
Karate International organization.

Yoshukai Karate International is proud to announce the promotion of Mr. Eddie Machen to 6th Dan.  Mr. Machen was recently appointed a position on the Yoshukai Karate International Board of Directors.

On Saturday, July 20th, 2013, Mike Foster Sensei and his family made a special guest appearance at the 2013 Tai Kai. Foster Sensei is the founder of the Yoshukai International Karate Association (YIKA) and is credited for bringing Yoshukai Karate to the United States.

Foster Sensei began his training during the late 1950’s at the Itazuke Air Force base in Japan. He later received senior rank from Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose and Mamorou Yamamoto in the mid 1960’s. In 1966 through 1969 he was the undefeated United States Karate kumite champion.
